Police officer filmed men in toilets and showers

A former police officer has been jailed for voyeurism after he filmed men in public toilets and showers.

The Birmingham Crown Court was told that when examining Alexander Hindmarsh’s cell phone, 28 videos had been discovered of men.

For the past two years he’s been filming them at service stations in Tamworth and Hopwood Park around Bromsgrove as well as other places in the West Midlands. The 32-year-old was sentenced to 19 months in prison on Wednesday after earlier admitting voyeurism.

Hindmarsh, of Dulverton Avenue, Coventry, resigned from West Midlands Police after committing the offences between December 2020 and November 2022.

He’s admitted to having monitored and recorded those who did their own personal business.

The court heard his claims in police interviews of “consensual voyeurism” were absurd lies. The hearings were also told he was on a “fasttrack” route to the rank of inspector.

The sex offender registry has been ordered to be signed by Hindmarch.
